The life science industry must circulate ressources

In spring 2019, the European Commission adapted a comprehensive report in the implementation of the Circular Economy Action Plan. The transition to a more circular economy in the EU, where the value of products, materials and resources is maintained in the economy for as long as possible, and the generation of waste minimised, is an essential contribution to the EU’s efforts to develop a sustainable, low carbon, resource efficient and competitive economy. Such transition is the opportunity to transform our economy and generate new and sustainable competitive advantages for Europe.

Included in the scope of Circular Economy in the EU are actions that reduce the presence of chemicals of concern and improve tracking of such chemicals in products. The goal is to increase the use of secondary raw materials. The life science industry as well must keep resources into circulation and thereby plays an important role to achieving the EU Circular Economy goal.

At this High Tea, we focus on how circular economy may affect the life science sector and discuss what it takes to implement a circular economy.
